Time for a Break

It was M.E. awareness week last week & a lot of people in the M.E. community put a HUGE amount of effort - that they don't really have spare - into fundraising & awareness activities. This card is for one person in particular but I feel like it's also for all of us who worked poured our energy into M.E. awareness week.

How I made this card is pretty simple (or I think it is). So I took a piece of the distress watercolour paper & on the rough side I pushed some white embossing paste through a broken clock stencil (which I did wrong the first time, scraped it off & put it back on but I actually like the way it turned out). When it dried I added colour using the distress spray in chipped sapphire, a random white acrylic ink I have which has gold reflex in it & a lot of water.

Once that had dried I added the other elements. These are pretty straight forward, I stamped the images & coloured them in with the Spectrum noir & Copic pens I have - highlights added using a white gel pen. Then I used the dies included in the kit to cut them out & stuck them on using cheap foam tape.

The only really note worthy parts of that whole process were the customised sentiment (I cut & pasted two sentiments together...pretty much literally), the fact that I wrapped the 'strings' of the eye mask around the head of the person stamp (which I am unreasonably proud about) & the fact that the person is coloured in to look like the person I'm sending the card to (the wonders of making cards rather than buying them ^^).
