Watercolour Flowers

Watercolour is one of those things that I have wanted to use forever. I knew though that watercolours were something 'artists' use so I kind of just gave up on them as something I'd never be able to use.
Enter card-making which makes all things possible, or at least makes me feel like an artist even though I am totally not ^^

I've been using the Tim Holtz Distress Inks as my watercolours for ages & I finally decided to get some 'real' watercolours, so in my most recent Simon Says haul I got the peerless watercolours & my gosh I am so happy with them, they're so bright & vibrant, I haven't stopped playing with them ever since they arrived ^^

These cards are so easy to do. I stamped on of the Tim Holtz flower stamps onto a piece of distress watercolour paper (with 1cm cut off the side) with the black versafine ink & then heat embossed with a clear powder. Then I dabbed water over the flowers & added colour from the peerless watercolour 'complete edition' with a damp brush. I added a little more concentrated colour at the centre of the flower/a darker colour at the centre.

The sentiments are from the Simon Says Stamp card kit that came out this month. I ADORE these banner stamps, I ombre-ed the yellow to orange using the Lawn Fawn yellow & orange...the purple ombre is the Hero Arts ombre ink pad. And the sentiments are stamped in Versafine black :) I tried to stamp Smile in ombre first but it had a lot of gaps so I wanted to stamp over it perfectly but I ended up with this cool shadow effect instead which I actually kind of love.

Okay, so I cut the banners out of Neenah solar white, stuck them on with the cheap foam tape I own & then stuck the card onto Neenah kraft cardstock which I love & use for 90% of the cards I make ^^

Do you have an art thing that you never thought you could do but do all the time now you make cards?

The supplies I use are listed below. I don't use affiliate links (I don't think so anyway, I don't understand Inlinkz).
SSS = Simon Says Stamps, CC = Craftie Charlie, a UK Store, ST = Sprinkle Twinkle, a UK Store, AZ = Amazon
