Is it tea you're looking for?

Hi again people. I am kind of card making crazy at the moment it seems. Well I am always card making crazy but I normally don't post them all. I think these blog hops are boosting my creativity like crazy :) That & distracting myself from an especially painful 'time of the month' (tmi? w/e).

Talking of blog hops this one counts for two of them, the watercolour blog hop my last two cards were for & a cool 'coffee lovers bloghop'.
I'm not a coffee drinker, or even much of a tea drinker but I am English. I may not think, like my Mum, that tea solves everything but tea, tea cups & tea pots are something of a religion :) When I saw this Avery Elle Tea Time stamp set I just HAD to get it. I love the teacups & all the cute things you can stamp on the teacups to make them look individual ^^

I actually didn't use any of those tiny stamps in this card, instead I watercoloured the tea cups. I stamped the tea cups with versafine on Distress Card (like I always do when I watercolour a stamped image).
The polka dot tea cup has a wash of blue peerless watercolour & dots of white gel pen, the striped one is just simple lines using a fine waterbrush & the flowers are a really simple technique people use for nail art - large, light pink watercolour dots, then darker C shapes using the finest tip of my fine waterbrush & rounded triangles of green for leaves. It's really simple to do :) I LOVE my peerless watercolours, I tend to just use my waterbrushes for everything atm (it's just less messy) & I used the fine one for all of these cups.

The animals are from the Avery & Elle 'More Stories' set stamped in versafine ink on Distress watercolour paper :) Watercoloured using peerless watercolours & my medium water brush. Shadows added using my fine water brush. The bird was all coloured using the fine water brush, it's tiny & majorly fiddly to colour in using watercolours.
Then I fussy cut the animals (which was a bit of a pain if I'm honest, that hedgehog was FIDDLY & the bird was TINY, I can't wait for the dies to arrive!). Okay so after that I cut along the inner rim of the teacup & started stacking the teacups & then slipped the hedgehog in at the top - the hedgehog had to be trimmed a little because it was sticking out round the sides :)
The I foam taped the back of the cup tower so that it stayed together, added foam tape to the back of the fox & a double piece of foam tape to the bird.

Okay so the background was nice & easy, I cut 1 inch of the top of the piece of distress watercolour paper & 1.5 inches from the side of the piece of distress watercolour paper. I watercoloured the rough side of the bigger piece of card using a blue peerless watercolour & a medium waterbrush. The 'cloud' shapes are super easy & totally copied from a technique Sandy Allnock shared in her beginner watercolour video...all you do is draw rough cloud shapes & then blend the colour downwards. I tend to re-draw the top part of the clouds just to keep them nice & defined. The grass is one of the off cuts from the watercolour paper painted in green, also on the rough side & then I cut it out using the new Hey Mama Elephant grass dies (they are AMAZING!).
Then it was just a case of finishing it up, I gold heat embossed the sentiment using Wow! Pale Rich Gold Super Fine embossing powder on Neenah Solar White cardstock & then cut into a banner. I stamped a couple of little flying bugs on the background using versafine ink & I stamped a few bits of grass on the grass border using Lawn Fawn ink in 'Fresh Cut Grass'.
Then I stuck down the blue background panel using a tape runner onto a premade A6 card (I always work on A6 cards), then I stuck down the green panel using tape runner in the middle & a little foam tape at the edges where it over hangs the blue panel. The banner was stuck down using foam tape & the animals & teacup tower using the foam tape I had already stuck to them :)

I want to show off this card to everyone I am SO pleased with it, I hate that I'm going to have to pick just one person to send it to lol. I wish I could remember where I got the idea of having the long grass panel & the small background from so I could credit the genius who came up with it, this card would so not look as good if it was all background :)
