Penguin Paradise

I made this card a few days ago & ever since all I want to do is create cards using these stamps.
These stamps are perfect , they are adorable - who doesn't love penguins? - plus they are penguins doing people things which, in the words of my brother, makes them "bad ass"....I think it's the penguins of Madagascar thing...
Even better the sentiments are really great, they are easy to fussy cut & even easier to colour in.....I have a feeling I will be using this stamp set a lot. I can imagine these working well on Christmas cards, on get well soon cards, on everything. I think they were possibly my best purchase of all the summer releases.

Anyway, I started off by stamping the image on Ranger Watercolour cardstock with versafine ink, covering with Elmer's rubber cement, I let that dry & started water colouring a rough background using mini distress ink pads in gathered twigs, antique linen & mermaid lagoon & the distress marker in tumbled glass.
When that had dried I started trying to peal off the Elmer's....

Yeah, it didn't go so great, I don't know if my peeling technique wasn't good enough or if I messed up in some other way. I think I'm going to order some 'proper' masking fluid if I plan to use this technique again.
I decided to keep going with the card (because it was too cute to quit on) & stamped the penguins on Neenah solar white with memento ink & coloured them in using my alcohol marker then fussy cut them & adhered them using a bunch of foam tape.

After that I decided to add a touch of gloss accents to the beaks, the rubber ring thing & the ice lolly. Glossy accents & I have a serious love/hate relationship & I mess up cards more often than I like to admit by touching glossy accents before it has dried. Thankfully this time I managed to restrain myself & it dried perfectly so I used more foam tape to stick it to an A6 sized Neenah Desert Storm card (you probably get bored of hearing me say that...).
