Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit

When I saw that this month's Simon Says Stamp card kit was nautical themed I knew I had to get it, not only am I going on a canal barge holiday this month but my brother has been sailing mad since we read Swallows & Amazons as kids. I could see me using the set loads.

I had intended not to use it until I went on holiday but I couldn't help cheating a little with all the red, white & blue inspiration everywhere (happy July the 4th btw).

I adore this sentiment fyi. I'm a huge RuPaul's drag race fan & have been wanting a drag race stamp set since the first time I made a card. This is, obviously, not quite there yet but every time I see the sentiment I want to snap my fingers & strike a pose (if you're a drag race fan you'll get it ^^).

Anyway, the card....

So I started off by stamping a scene in Versamark ink & then heat embossing it with Ranger super fine white embossing powder.....then I watercoloured it using distress ink in salty ocean & mermaid lagoon, just lots of layers & splashing etc.
I actually stamped the boat into the background initially but it stamped badly but I liked the rest of the background & just kept going with it. The boat in the foreground actually covers over that boat.

Okay so because the boat on the card messed up I stamped it in versafine black onto more watercolour cardstock, heat embossed it using clear embossing powder & then watercoloured it using the zig clean colour real brush markers in 64, 37 & 24. For the base of the boat I used a piece of paper from the pack included in the card kit (I totally didn't realise until after I'd done it that I'd ended up making a red, white & blue boat with stars....seriously July the 4th is everywhere, it's hard not to be influenced ^^).
Okay then I just fussy cut it & put it to one side.

The banner was done on watercolour cardstock (mostly because it has a beautiful cream colour that distresses well). The stripes were stamped in Lawn Fawn's Lobster ink, the sentiment was embossed in Ranger's Liquid Platinum & the edges were distressed with antique linin & vintage photo.
The top set of waves is actually on velum & coloured on the reverse with some of mermaid lagoon. Then I just assembled it, so the banner first, then the boat, then the wave & finally I wrapped some twine around the card so I could add on one of the charms that came with the card kit.
Then the whole thing was mounted onto a Neenah Desert Storm A6 card base using a bunch of foam tape.
