Simon Says Stamp Stamptember Card Kit

Hi everyone. Anyone else find that the summer holidays make crafting impossible? Actually that's not true, I do a lot of crafting in the summer holidays but it's more the crayons, pva glue & poster paint type crafting I have to do with my foster brother not the sophisticated card kind of crafting :)

Making this card was the first chance I've had in a month to do any real crafting & honestly things were a bit of a mess. To start with I wanted to do the technique where gesso resists watercolour a tiny bit but I put it through the stencil making it too high & meaning that the watercolour went around it instead of over it (which is a form of resist I guess) & then I didn't clean the balloon stamp off enough meaning that the colour got muddied on the pink balloon (which gave a colour I actually liked better but it still made me feel stupid) & then I forgot that my coloured card is all American sized but my watercolour card is all cut to UK size so the card sat differently on the base than I had expected....

Weirdly though this 'comedy of errors' actually made a card I liked a lot more than the idea I had originally had in my head...kind of typical really :)

So the card was made really simply, I 'smooshed' some of the gesso that came in the kit through the stencil that came in the kit on some hot press watercolour paper. After that dried I went over it with a few layers of a teal colour from my peerless watercolours. Then I stamped three balloons (from the stamp set that came in the kit), one in Simon Says Stamp Mint Candy, Simon Says Stamp Twirling Tutu & Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass. I then went over the pink one with the triangle stamp & some Simon Says Stamp white pigment ink & then stamped the balloon outlines intentionally off centre with some Versafine ink in Black. I marked up where I was planning to stick them & drew the 'strings' in with my Copic Multi liner in 0.3, stuck them on with layers of foam tape & finally finished it up with the lets celebrate sentiment (from the stamp set that came with the kit) embossed in Ranger liquid platinum.

Oh the base is the medium Simon Says Stamp grey card, I can't remember the name. It's the one up from Fog.
